The initiative aims to train trainers to reach more potential technicians and develop small livelihoods to create a vibrant ecosystem for entrepreneurs at the grassroot.
An important element for the end-user to enjoy a product (service) over a long period, there is a need for strong systems for manufacturing (creating), servicing (delivering) and maintenance (ensuring quality of delivery). This in turn dictates the need for a trained and equipped human resource. Creation of this skilled manpower relies on the right content, delivery tools (i.e. techniques, formats of the content, motivated trainers), institutions with the basic infrastructure and labs to conduct the training and conduits for placement. SELCO Foundation works with different organizations in various parts of the country to institutionalize technical training in academic institutions, NGOs, incubators, established entrepreneurs etc to create a strong human resource, for example. In Kalahandi in Odisha local tribal people are trained to become solar sathis (friends) to maintain and service solar home systems in remote villages through NGOs. In further this effort relationships are also built with policy makers to develop content with practical underpinnings and with academic institutions to develop labs and capable trainers.
