Through various slum recognition projects land plots are allotted to people who have been residing on it for a specific number of years. The lack of technical skills within low income communities often results in poorly built houses that compromise on the quality of the built structure. Due to space constrictions houses often lack ventilation and lighting qualities thus increasing the households dependability on artificial sources of energy. Also, banks and other sources of formal financing are hesitant to loan large sums of money to such beneficiaries for house construction due to absence of ownership and income papers. The project aims to enable beneficiaries to construct houses that are technically sound, efficient and develop linkages with financial institutes for provision of appropriate loan packages. It also aims to analyze and leverage on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) for provision of the same.
