Mr. B.R. Prabhakara
Mr. B. R. Prabhakara is a retired IAS officer from the 1963 Batch (Karnataka cadre). He has held several key administrative positions at both state and central levels, such as Chairman and Managing Director of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, Additional Secretary in the Department of Atomic Energy, Secretary of the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, etc. He was also appointed as the Chief Secretary of Karnataka. After retiring from government service in 1997, Mr. Prabhakara continues to be on the board of several companies and foundations. Presently Mr. Prabhakara is the Chief Executive of the Gokula Education Foundation, Bangalore, a Private Educational Trust that runs 16 institutions including two hospitals.
Dr. K.S. Srinivas
Dr. K.S. Srinivas retired as Executive Director, BHEL, in charge of 3 manufacturing units of BHEL. He has a PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, specializing in electronic devices. He has a keen interest in renew-able, particularly photovoltaic, energy and serves on numerous expert and advisory committees on renewable energy, such as ‘Research, Design & Development Sectoral Project Appraisal Committee for Solar Photovoltaics’ (RDSPAC-SPV)”- set up by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India (MNRE). Dr. Srinivas is the recipient of many awards in his chosen field, such as the PVSEC National Award by Solar Energy Society of India, for outstanding contributions to the development of Photovoltaic Technology, Sys-tems and Applications.(2001).
Ms. Keya Acharya
Ms. Keya Acharya is an independent journalist and researcher, who has been writing exclusively on envi-ronment and development for many years and has various national and international publications to her credit. She also teaches development journalism and development issues to media students in Bangalore, where she is based and has conducted several media training workshops. Keya has travelled extensively in the course of her journalism assignments, reporting from various countries on subjects as diverse as solid and hazardous wastes, human rights, corruption, forestry and wildlife, climate change, agri-biotech and others.
G. Ananthapadmanabhan (Ananth) works with purpose driven leaders and social sector organisations that aspire to make a difference to the significant issues of our times. He’s the former CEO of Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI). He started his work life as a teacher in The School – Krishnamurti Foundation India. Ananth graduated in 1988 from IIT Madras with a B Tech in electrical engineering.
Mr. Jairaj, a serving senior IAS officer, is currently the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka. A Post Graduate from the Princeton and Harvard University, his expertise is in the field of infrastructure, energy, transport, finance and urban development.
Mr. Pullenkav has a graduate degree in Physics and is an alumnus of Institute of Rural Management (IRMA), Anand. After graduating from IRMA, he worked in the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for 3 years in their Management Pool Division and then for a year in the marketing department of TATA BP Solar. He joined SELCO Solar Light Pvt. Ltd. in 1996 and was formerly the Vice President there. He is currently an independent consultant in the area of sustainable energy.
Ms. (Dr.) Veena Joshi
Dr. Joshi has been with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). She has been a researcher for the first fifteen years of career out of which ten years were at TERI. Currently her focus is on developing new modalities for programme implementation to promote energy efficiency in buildings and small scale industries and decentralised power generation in rural areas.
